Presidents 2018 Volunteer Service Awards

President Service Awards 2018

Belmont High School and Chenery Middle School students who did record amounts of volunteer hours were given the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national campaign to promote and recognize sustained service among Americans of all ages.

Chenery Middle School has 20 awardees in the sixth through eighth grades. These students who complete at least 50 hours of service in a 12-month period are honored at three different levels. Students who perform between 50 and 74 hours earn the Bronze award, 75-99 the Silver, and 100 plus for the Gold.

Belmont High School has 127 awardees. These students complete at least 100 hours of service in a 12-month period and are also honored at three different levels, but the criteria are higher. Students who perform between 100 and 174 hours earn the Bronze award, 175-249 the Silver, and 250 plus to get the Gold.

The Belmont High School senior awardees were recognized at a ceremony at a School Committee meeting on May 22, and the underclass students were recognized during the Underclass Student Awards Ceremony on June 7. Chenery Middle School recipients were also awarded in June.
