All meetings will be held in the Community Room of the Chenery Middle School unless otherwise stipulated.

School Committee meetings are scheduled for Tuesday evenings and generally follow a sequence of having a regular business meeting on the 1st Tuesday of the month and a workshop meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Executive Sessions, when scheduled, will begin at 6:30 PM and end promptly at 7:30 PM for the start of the regular meetings.  If additional time for Executive Session is needed the sessions will be held after the conclusion of the School Committee meeting.

Regular Business Meetings:  The regular monthly business meetings will allow the School Committee to efficiently conduct all of the various transactions required by law.  These meetings will allow the School Committee to take action (vote) on both routine and non-routine motions.  Discussions will be kept brief and both presentations and public input, if allowed at all, will be very limited.  Regular meetings will not last more than 2 hours.

Workshop Meetings:  The monthly workshop meetings (none in December) serve a much broader purpose than the business meetings.  Workshops create the opportunities for the School Committee to explore specific issues in greater detail, to listen to more extensive presentations and public input on topics and to engage in School Committee development (learning) activities.  Public forums on key topics may be scheduled for workshop meetings prior to action being taken (voting) on these topics at business meetings.  Workshop meetings will be scheduled for one-and-one-half-hours.

  • As a general rule, Monday evenings are reserved for elementary school events.  Tuesday evenings for School Committee meetings, Wednesday evenings for High School meetings, and Thursday evenings for Middle School meetings.
  • The starting time for all meetings is normally 7:30 PM unless otherwise noted.
  • All meetings will be held in the Community Room of the Chenery Middle School unless otherwise stipulated.  Every effort will be made to prepare and present the agenda for each meeting so that it can be reasonably concluded on the scheduled date.
  • Administrators who seek to provide items for discussion on a given agenda are asked to submit appropriate material to the Superintendent’s secretary no later than one week prior to the scheduled date of a meeting.
