Since the last newsletter...

Bring together friends, family, DJ Madden and 60 pounds of pasta... WOW what a party! Thank you to our 5th Grade Events Coordinators Stephanie Hovsepian and Meghan Hopkins for organizing a great 5th Grade and New Family Pasta Dinner last Thursday! Thank you to our custodians, cafeteria staff, Principals, teachers and many parent volunteers for assisting with the evening!

Thank you for joining us on October 12 for our first PTO meeting. We efficiently discussed regular business, approved our budget for the year, and then welcomed special guests Superintendent John Phelan and Belmont High School Building Committee Chair, Bill Lovallo. They shared all of the latest information on the High School Building Project. It is an exciting opportunity for Belmont! Please visit the website www.belmonthighschoolproject.org for up-to-date information on upcoming community meetings and to view presentation materials.

Help Wanted! PTO Clubs Co-Chair

Interested in volunteering and like to work independently? Are you organized? Do you have an eye for detail? Then this is the role for you!

The PTO Clubs Committee is looking for a new Family Contact Volunteer. Join a team of Co-chairs who collaborate to run the Clubs, handling administrative and staff communication, and family contact. Tasks are as follows:

  • Create E-blasts and fliers to promote Clubs
  • Open and manage preview week and registration
  • Forward financial aid requests to the Principal for consideration
  • Share rosters with BASEC staff
  • Send reminder emails before the start of a session
  • Collaborate with other Clubs Co-Chairs

Committee work is concentrated in three short windows--noted below--with the time period critical for the Family Contact volunteer in parentheses (the weeks of preview and registration):

  • Fall Session: Late August-early October (late-September to early October)
  • Winter Session: Mid-December-late January (early to mid-January)
  • Spring Session: Early March-mid April (late-March to early-April)

The process of the work of this committee is well-documented. Fresh ideas from new committee members are always welcome and will keep our Club offerings and experience exciting for students and staff. Join us and truly make a difference! Interested? Have questions? Please contact our current Family Contact volunteer, Rita Butzer Carpenter, at ritaccarp@yahoo.com.
