Absence/Tardy/Dismissal Procedures

In the event that you will be absent, late and dismissed early from school, please have your parents notify the school as soon as possible by calling the respective attendance line:

Upper school: 617-993-5832

Lower School: 617-993-5822

By knowing whether you are in or out of the building ensures your safety and the safety of all students.

Regular attendance in school promotes high student achievement. If we do not hear from your parents or guardian when you are absent, school personnel will make efforts to contact them. If you are absent from school, you may not participate in after school or evening activities on that day without prior approval from a building administrator.

Good work ethic and habits begin with punctuality. If you reach school after 7:55 AM, go directly to the main office to be checked in. You will be given a pass to report to class. If you know that you will be late for school, please have your parents call the attendance line as soon as possible.

Students are expected to make up missing assignments due to tardiness or absence in a timely determined by your teacher.

Requesting a dismissal

Although we realize it is sometimes necessary to have to be dismissed early from school, this procedure is intended to minimize disruptions to the learning process. Your parents should call our attendance line in advance to let us know their plans to dismiss you:

  • When your parent arrives in the main office for your dismissal we will call you out of class and your parent must sign you out.
  • Students may not leave the building without a parent/guardian present.
  • Upon returning to school you should report to the main office to be checked-in and receive a pass to return to class.

Hallway Passes

For your safety and the safety of all our students and staff it is important that you are accounted for in case of an emergency. For this reason you should have a pass to be in the hallways when classes are in session. This pass indicates that an adult is aware of your whereabouts while not in class.
