Chenery Green Team: Newsletter, November 2017 is available online here

In this issue:

  • TRASH BASHERS - A New Green Initiative at Chenery!

Did you know?

  • Belmont Public Schools use over 8000 black plastic trash bags every year for their cafeteria waste. By simply stacking lunch trays, Chenery students will reduce the number of trash bags used by about 50%. Imagine the savings if all other schools, district-wide, stacked trays too!
  • BPS trash is picked up DAILY at every School and hauled to North Andover for incineration. Less trash is less hauling and less carbon in our atmosphere. Think about the non-recyclable waste you pack in your child's lunch.
  • Straws, sporks and other plastic utensils CAN NOT be recycled. Thousands of straws and other plastics litter our waterways... remind your students to ONLY use plastic utensils and straws when they need them.
  • Thousands of dirty napkins, single use ziploc bags and single use snacks, fill up our lunch trash cans. Consider packing a reusable spork, a cloth napkin and a reusable snack pouch or lidded container

How can you help?

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
