Grade 8 Parents: The Grade 8 Teachers are busy conferencing with your children on making the proper recommendations for high school course selection. This important process will continue through March 17. After March 17, you will receive notification in the mail of your child's course recommendations as well as information on the next part of the course selection process. Considering the limited amount of time to complete all of the various tasks involved, Grade 8 teachers will be available to answer any questions you have about course selection and recommendations only after March 17. If you have any immediate concerns, please free to contact the Upper School Office. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Multicultural Night: Join us on Thursday, March 23 6:00p.m. – 8:15p.m. for the Multicultural Night:  Discover the Chenery Melting Pot – Exploring You!  This is a FREE community event and everyone is invited to attend.  Please bring a dessert to share (homemade or store bought).  Dinner tastings will be provided by local restaurants.  A night full of fun including arts, dance, music demonstrations and stories of immigration all from our Chenery community, along with short films and discussions await you!

Don’t miss it!  If you are interested in volunteering check out the Sign-Up Genius link to see how you can help!  Contact Patty Brownlee at or Holly Johnson at with any questions.

Checking Grades on the Parent Plus Portal: Teachers generally update the grades on the grading portal around the time of Progress Reports and Report Cards (which is roughly every 4 or 5 weeks). The grades on the portal are not always updated on a daily or weekly basis. If you have any questions about your child's progress at anytime, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher.

Belmont-Boston Friends and Families Program: Join us at the 3rd Annual Boston-Belmont Friends Bowling Event!  All Boston and Belmont families attending Belmont Public Schools are welcome to join in the fun for bowling, pizza, and making new friends. This event is open to K-12 families thanks to funding from Belmont Against Racism.

BASEC Parent Lecture Series: On March 28th @ 6:30-8:00pm in the Burbank Elementary Cafetorium, the Belmont After School Enrichment Collaborative (BASEC) will be hosting another free parent lecture. Each year BASEC brings various experts to Belmont to talk about issues relating to child development. The upcoming speakers are adoptive parents and social workers from the organization, Adoptive Families Together. As a panel, the speakers will be discussing the personal and unique adoption experiences of each adoptive family and how to manage these tough conversations.

Raising Resilient Kids: Come to this year’s social and emotional learning presentation to learn about resilience, how to foster it at home, and how we’re fostering it in the schools. This presentation is part of the district’s social and emotional learning initiative, generously funded by the Foundation for Belmont Education.
