The Third Annual

Chenery Green Week

Chenery spends around $162,974 on electricity each year. With that in mind, join the Student Council in an exciting week of activities, discussion, and contests on becoming a greener school!  Chenery Green Week Schedule

‐ April 9th to 13th, 2012 ‐

  • Participate in the annual Pedometer Challenge from Monday to Friday: walk and earn prizes! The student, teacher, and homeroom with the most steps will receive a prize. Pedometers are available for purchase from the Upper School Student Council. Join the Challenge!
  • On Monday (upper) and Wednesday (lower), recycling bins will be in either end of the hallways: Recycle!
  • Students will be discussing going green.
  • Tuesday we’ll focus on using less packaging and encourage you to bring reusable lunch containers, among other things. Every person counts: just use a plastic container vs. plastic bag!
  • On Wednesday, walk or ride a bike to school! (Be sure to check the student council bulletin board for meeting spots). Organize a group of friends to walk or ride a bike to school.
  • On Thursday, April 12th, many classroom lights, computer screens and SMART Boards will be turned off as part of “Save Electricity Day.”
  • On Friday, wear blue for Earth Day! The bluest student and staff member will receive a reward.
