When we stopped to do some science work these three guys came up next to the ship and watched us with much curiosity.  They are Emperor penguins, which you can tell from the rosy color on the side of their necks.  They waddle and grumble like fat old men wearing tuxedos.  (Ask Mrs. LaRoche what a tuxedo is.)

The other kinds of penguins, called Adele (Ah-dell'-ee) penguins are smaller and they waddle like two year old kids wearing diapers and trying to run.

It was sunny but there was some wind.  I dashed out on deck for three minutes to take a picture, but it was fifty below zero so I had to rush back inside.  My jacket, which is pretty warm, was not nearly warm enough for that temperature.
