· A call sign is a special “name” for an amateur radio operator who is nicknamed a “ham”.
· Every call sign has a letter and number prefix, which is specific to his/her country, and a one, two or three-letter suffix that is unique to the particular ham.
· Our first grade class friend, Dr. Martin Bayes, has a call sign. It’s AA10N. He must announce his call sign at least once every ten minutes during a contact and again when he signs off. |
Here is a photo of Dr. Bayes using his ham radio equipment to make a contact. |
