|Student Care Programs
Before and after-school childcare programs are currently available at Butler. Information about the cost and schedule for these programs can be obtained from the after-care office located on the ground level of the school near the Sycamore Street door.
In addition, after-school enrichment classes and after-school sports offer other opportunities for afternoon activities for Butler students. More information about these programs can be obtained from the PTA.
School Visit Procedure
All visitors to the school, including parents, must report first to the school office, where they will be directed to their destinations. Visitors who are volunteering for the day should go directly to the school office to obtain a “Volunteer” badge. Butler staff members will not only assist all visitors but will also confirm that visitors have legitimate business at the school.
Students have outdoor recess almost everyday (unless weather conditions make the playground and surrounding areas unsafe). Therefore, in the cold weather it is important for students to come to school with appropriate accessories: hats, mittens, boots, and warm coats.
Student Telephone Use
The school office telephone may be used by students only for emergencies and official school purposes. We encourage parents and children to make after-school plans in advance and to notify children and all appropriate school personnel if necessary in advance.
To ensure the safety of our students and staff, certain doors to the school may be locked beginning at 9 a.m. each day. The White Street door remains open all day.
The Lost-and-Found box is located adjacent to the gym. Parents are urged to check it regularly for any missing belongings. Periodically, unclaimed articles are given to charity.
