Butler Parents/Guardians,
One addendum to this week’s newsletter that I was unable to add before our newsletter “went to press”:
Last year our nurse, Connie Page, started a school garden in the back field. Students were involved throughout the Spring and Summer tending it and caring for the vegetables and herbs that grew. Unfortunately, our garden was recently damaged after the school day by students who were climbing inside, causing the door lock to break and the screening to be ripped off. Please help us reinforce the same message about the garden that we send during the day: The garden is an extension of the classroom, not an extension of the playground. Students should not climb in it or play on it. If you are with your child after school or on the weekend please help us look out for the Nurse’s Garden. It represents a great learning opportunity for students that we want to maintain for many years to come.
Respectfully, Mr. McAllister
