New Attendance System starting in December: I am happy to announce that the Butler School will begin using an automated “robo-call” attendance phone messaging system starting in December.
As always, if you have to report that your child will be absent or late, you should call our school attendance line at (617) 993-5552 each day before 8:30am. Our School Secretary, Mrs. Sceppa, checks that line every morning. This is the same as it has always been. The change to the system is that starting Monday, December 2nd, parents/guardians will receive an automated phone message for any children with an unexcused absence; that is, any child who is marked as absent by the classroom teacher but was not called in on the attendance line. The message will state the following: “This is an important message from the Daniel Butler Elementary School. Your child has been marked absent by the classroom teacher. However, we have not received a phone call from you reporting your child's absence. Please call the Butler School office as soon as possible at 617-993-5550. Thank you."
The recorded attendance notification message is our official parent notification of an unexcused absence. Parents who receive this message should call the Butler main office at 617-993-5550 to excuse the child’s absence. Households should expect to receive calls beginning at 9:30AM. If you have already excused your child's absence, you will not receive an automated reminder call.
