Burbank families had a great time Friday evening during our skating party! It was great to see so many in attendance, enjoying the company of friends and the hot chocolate! A big thank you to Heather Brenhouse for organizing the event!

MA Winter Walk to School Day:
Wednesday, February 5th

Wear a warm colorful hat and join your Burbank friends and other Massachusetts schools in walking to school on, whatever the weather!
Walking is good exercise, good fun, reduces traffic congestion, and strengthens our community.

Winter walking safety tips:

- Wear bright or reflective clothing, with layers for warmth

- In snow or ice, wear boots with grips

- Watch out for wet or dark areas of sidewalk

- Walk like a penguin! Slow, small steps are safest in snow or ice

- Stay on sidewalks and use designated crosswalks, even when they are snowy.

Thanks for walking!

REGISTRATION

Team registration is now open and is conducted online.
Students sign up as a team of 3-4, not as individual students.  You need the students names and their teachers names to complete the registration.
Visit https://forms.gle/jkLGPxXohaJ3eCCQ6 when you are ready to sign up.  Please only register once per team.  Registration will be open until Wednesday, February 12th.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Geography Challenge is a non-competitive display of students’ knowledge.
As in past years, students form teams of 3 or 4 members and answer questions found in the Dr. Feinberg Geography Challenge Study Books, which will be distributed before the event.
Students who participate will have the opportunity to learn basic geography facts and terms.
Fun, teamwork, learning, and enrichment are all part of the Geography Challenge!

Participation in the Geography Challenge tends to be high, with about two-thirds of all Burbank students electing to take part.

The Geography Challenge is unique to Burbank - we are the only elementary school in Belmont that hosts this fun, educational activity.

All students attend the Geography Challenge regardless of whether they are on a team, and parents and family are welcome to attend.

If you have any questions after reading the registration materials, please contact one of the Geography Challenge co-chairs.  We hope that your child decides to participate this year.

Sincerely, The PTA Geography Challenge Co-Chairs
