The Belmont Religious Council is pleased to announce that the 11th annual Belmont Serves day of community service will be held on Monday, October 14 (Columbus Day holiday). This event is endorsed by the Belmont Board of Selectmen, Belmont School Department and other community organizations.
It is a wonderful opportunity to support our community - volunteers will be helping with cleanup, weeding, mulching and beautifying the grounds at Burbank.
Come and lend a helping hand from 9am - 12pm!

For more information about how you can help, follow the link:

The PTA is an essential partner to the Burbank School, and your contribution directly helps enrich your child’s school experience. We ask you to contribute whatever you’re comfortable giving, and if you need a number, we suggest $130 PER CURRENT BURBANK CHILD.

The PTA has been able to support a grant program whereby teachers can receive additional resources to create a better learning environment, update materials and improve the students education.
Examples of Past Grants:

  • Wobble seats: alternative seating options for students that encourage active sitting.
  • Indoor games and activities for children to use individually or in small groups during indoor recess time.
  • 4 large water coolers: a great environmental alternative; hydration education is incorporated into all physical education classes.
  • Classroom library support: additional levelled reader books as well as engaging nonfiction series.
  • Headphones for independent study.
  • New science books for the library supporting the new science curriculums.
  • White boards for small group reading and math support in the conference room, modulars, and third floor rotunda.
  • The Lily Pad, an art room creative corner, which is used as a quiet space for children who need it, a creative space for those who finish projects early, a collaborative or brainstorm space and a shared space for support staff during non-art time.

PLEASE JOIN US, and give what you can.

Burbank PTA 2019 Annual Appeal

Calling all 3rd grade girls!
We’re starting a new Girl Scout troop.

Third grade Girl Scouts are called “Brownies”. Together they will learn new skills, try new activities, make new friends and have fun! Some of the activities that the Brownies might try include working with animals, camping, music and art or even building robots! It is through these programs which focus on the four key Girl Scout pillars - STEAM Education, the Outdoors, Life Skills and Entrepreneurship, that we look to build up the next generation of female leaders.
This troop will meet once per month on Saturday afternoons from 4pm-5:30pm starting October 2019.

To register, go to and search for “Forming Troop70108”. Financial assistance is available. Please feel free to contact troop leader Hannah Pong at with any questions or more details.
Space is limited and is open to all 3rd grade girls in Belmont.
Sign up by October 11th, 2019 and unleash your inner G.I.R.L. (Go getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader) ™
(Note: One parent/ caregiver per family is asked to register as an adult volunteer at and volunteer for at least one meeting per year.)

FBE Spelling Bee

The FBE Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, at the Chenery Middle School beginning at 2:00 pm. The Bee is open to all students in grades K-6 and is an exciting event for students, family, and friends.

Spellers participate in three- or four-person teams and are on stage in groups (or swarms) at assigned times. Word lists are already posted on the FBE website, so there is plenty of time to study. Kindergarten through fourth grade swarms are non-competitive. Fifth and sixth grade swarms are competitive, though still team based.

It’s time to get ready - create a team, pick a creative name, and coordinate your costumes!

Expected Spelling Times

  • Grades K-2, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
  • Grades 3-4, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
  • Grades 5-6, 6:00 - 8:30 pm

Online registration is runs through October 18*. Registration is completed at the individual speller level, but a team name and the names of all team members are required before an individual can register.

*Space for this popular event is likely to sell out. For the last three years, we have had to close registration before the October 18 registration deadline and place teams on a waitlist.

It takes many volunteers to run this event, so if you are interested in helping out, please click on the FBE link below.

For more information, to register, to volunteer and to view the word lists, please visit the FBE website at: If you need assistance, please email
