THANK  YOU :

Thank you Jessie Bennett for serving on the Burbank PTA Board for so many years! We deeply appreciate the vision, positivity and energy you brought and continue to bring to the community at Burbank. It is with mixed feelings of support and sadness that we announce that Jessie is stepping back from the PTA leadership in order to run for office to the Board of Selectmen! We wish her well in the campaign. Jessie has made a real difference to the Burbank school and are grateful for her service. Here is a link to Jessie’s letter of resignation from the PTA leadership: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rJN-ASxcBAcwlNikZHU5EqTlzjLLhKly/view?usp=sharing

Thank you Heather Brenhouse and Kristen Zecchi for organizing the Skating Party! The party was fun and there was a great turnout. Nothing like a little exercise and hot chocolate with friends on a winter day!

DISCOVERY AT BURBANK’S FIRST GRADE

On January 25th. The Discovery Museum came to Burbank to teach first graders about weather and the different types of clouds. They learned to make clouds and simulated what happens to condensation and evaporation. Thank you Carrie Palmer for organizing the first grade science enrichment!

Families can support the new emphases on observation, investigation and outdoor learning by participating in Stem night; joining the Garden-curriculum committee to plan and support garden-based learning activities for a grade; volunteering to help out during class visits to the gardens this spring.

MA Winter Walk to School Day: Wednesday, February 6th

Wear a warm colorful hat and join your Burbank friends and other Massachusetts schools in walking to school on February 6th, whatever the weather!

We'll have a dance party on the blacktop to celebrate being a walking school!  Walking is good exercise, good fun, reduces traffic congestion, and strengthens our community.

Share these winter walking safety tips with your family:

- Wear bright or reflective clothing, with layers for warmth

- Wear boots with grips

- Watch out for wet or dark areas of sidewalk

- Walk like a penguin! Slow, small steps are safest in snow or ice

- Stay on sidewalks and use designated crosswalks, even when they are snowy.

Thanks for walking!
