NEW PARKING & AND TRAFFIC RULES
Start September 5

Please honor traffic rules and guidelines for smooth and safe drop-off and pick-up at Burbank! Your cooperation is requested so that buses and cars do not get backlogged and pedestrians can cross and get to and from school safely during these busy transition times.

  • No parking is permitted on Gale St. between 8:00-9:00 a.m. across from the rolling drop-off area. All drop-off at Gale Rd. during this period is rolling drop-off.
  • No parking is permitted on Sharpe Rd. at the curve. The space is needed for buses to turn safely.
  • If you are driving to school please plan to park on nearby streets and walk a block or two from there.
  • Please review the Getting to School Safely pamphlet to familiarize yourself with the details before school starts.
  • Carpool! You can sign up here for CARPOOL PARTNERS.
  • Dr. Clifford has requested parent volunteer support during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times during the first two weeks of school. If you have 20 minutes during morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up, and are willing to help out, please sign up to be a BURBANK PARKING GUIDE.
  • Student Tour Guides Needed
    for New Family Scavenger Hunt

Current Burbank students and recent Burbank alums, come be a BURBANK TOUR GUIDE at this year's New Family Scavenger Hunt on Thursday, August 30!

Student volunteers will be stationed in pairs at various locations throughout the building (e.g., the gym, the cafeteria, etc.) to greet the new families and give a brief overview of their location.

There will be two 1-hour Scavenger Hunt sessions: one at 9:00 am for incoming Kindergartners and one at 10:00 am for incoming students in grades 1-4. Student volunteers can sign up for one or both sessions, and will need to arrive 10 minutes before the start of their first session.

Please sign up HERE. Thank you for helping to welcome new students and their families to the Burbank community!

    PTA Board for 2018-2019

Fill an important role on the PTA Board: How do you feel about the work that the PTA does at Burbank? Do you feel that it is valuable? Do you have a drive to be part of helping build community and supporting teachers? Our current PTA board is short one member. Katherine Poulin-Kerstien has served her two-year term as Co-President, and we haven't yet found her replacement. She is valiantly continuing to help over the summer, but our community is large enough to find a good person who will take the baton. Please reach out to Jessie Bennett if you have any interest in taking on a leadership role along with the current Board members below.:

    • Seetha Burtner, Co-President
    • Katherine Poulin-Kerstien, Co-President
    • Jessie Bennett, Secretary

    Burbank PTA Annual Appeal Drive
    September 10 - November 21, 2018

Your tax-deductible contribution to the Burbank PTA directly supports students and staff throughout the year. We do a ONE-TIME Annual Appeal Drive to cover the entire year, which officially starts on September 10, and goes through November 21. If you'd like to check off this box on your to-do list early, we have the Burbank PTA 2018 Annual Appeal online site ready to go. We ask you to contribute whatever you’re comfortable giving, and if you need a number, we suggest $125 PER BURBANK CHILD.

Want to know what your contribution will support? Here are some examples:

    • teacher grants
    • SMART Boards
    • Reimbursements for needed classroom supplies
    • Enrichment activities for all grades
    • Mathbrary for Grade 2
    • Colonial Day for Grade 3
    • Kindergarten Field Trips
    • Online Reading/Math subscriptions for all grades
    • Community-building events
    • Teacher training for Open Circle social-emotional curriculum
    • School library and classroom library support

Without the generosity of Burbank families, none of the PTA’s work would be possible. The funds raised and spent by the PTA have a significant impact on your child’s daily classroom experience. Our goal this year is 100% participation. Every bit helps our school community, so please join us and give what you can.
