Thank you for the June 11th Art Installation show: Thank you Nicole Pond, Kristin Romig, the Garden Committee, and each and every Burbank student for sharing your art with us. Parents and children were enriched by the experience of seeing the children's self-expression and positive messages on display at the "There's Only One Me" Art Installation!

Thank you for the BoxTops: Thank you to families for donating your Box-Tops, and to Mike Raiter for coordinating BoxTops!

Thank you for the year-end assemblies: Thanks to Kate Hayashi, the teachers, and children for finishing strong at the year-end assembly performances! What a great end to the school year! Well done everyone!

Congratulations rising 5th graders! The 4th graders had many celebrations to mark their end of their final year at Burbank and their transition to middle school, including a Moving-On ceremony, a BBQ, a yearbook, class t-shirts, and the 4th grade tile project (shown below). Thank you to the whole 4th Grade Moving On Committee – Son Joo Hwang, Nina Biggar Del Vecchio, Amy Zuccarello, Jen Martin, Long To, Mai Vu, David Burtner, Katherine Poulin-Kerstien, Seetha Burtner, Tony Hu, Peter Whitmer, Jijun Dong, and Rebecca Deane – for putting it all together.

Garden Tours and Tasks: Spring Harvesting &
Garden Blog!

Tuesday, June 19, 2:50-3:30 pm

Families are invited after dismissal to join us in the Vegetable Garden AND the Garden Classroom. Come help with some weeding or watering, and pick something tasty to bring home. There are herbs, lettuces, and maybe peas...come see! Quantities are small, so we will share.

The vegetable garden will be cleared and mulched to rest over the summer, because we cannot water it during construction of the new modulars. The Garden Classroom will need regular watering and weeding during summer to keep it looking good. A big thank you to all the families who volunteered to help tend it for a week of your school vacation. Please contact Kim Foster if you have any questions about summer garden maintenance, contact Kim Foster.

The children have been working the soil—enjoy the colorful photographs and learn what each grade has been up to in the Burbank Gardens, in the BURBANK GARDEN BLOG! Thanks to Kim Foster for keeping the blog updated!

Thanks for your support of the school gardens! Have a great summer!

Room Parent Recruitment for Next Year

Interested in being a room parent next school year? Send an email to the Room Parent Coordinators, Meghan Wright and Zarina Samai, to let them know you are interested. Please include:

  • Your Name
  • Your child(ren)'s name(s)
  • Your child(ren)'s grade(s) in 2018-19 school year

Add your voice and talent to our children's school life!
Step up to be a PTA co-chair.

All committees are open to additional volunteers, fresh perspectives, and new energy. Please see the online VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM for information about all the committees and to indicate your interest. Certain committees – the Directory, Burbank Walks, and Garden Committees – are most in need of volunteers. Whatever your interest and time availability, there's a place for you here.

Do you have questions about the time commitment involved? We have answers.

The number of hours involved, as well as the timing (day, evening or weekend; year-round or seasonal) varies from committee to committee, and volunteers find the sweet spot that works for them. Time estimates and a short description for all the committees are provided on the VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM. Use the form to let you know what sounds interesting, and we will contact you to provide more information and see if you want to opt in.

Thank you for giving your time and talents!
