But first, a few important announcements. . .
Gale Road Parking Changes: A no-parking restriction has been implemented across from the rolling drop-off zone on Gale Road during the 8-9 a.m. morning drop-off time. On the map, the restricted-parking area is shown in red across from the rolling drop-off zone shown in green. The changes have been implemented to improve safety during the 8-9am morning drop-off time. Thank you for adhering to these new regulations and not parking between the No Parking signs on Gale Road during morning drop-off.
Walking Wednesdays Sneaker Trophy Challenge: Burbank Walking Wednesdays are starting again this week on May 2nd, which is MA Walk/Bike to School Day. Get yourself to school by any means other than in your family car for the next 6 Wednesdays and help your class earn the coveted Sneaker Trophy!
Congratulations to Mrs. Cox, Outstanding Teacher of the Year! Come out to support Mrs. Cox as she is honored at a public ceremony today, Tuesday, May 1st from 6:30-8:00pm at Chenery. There will be a 6:30 pm reception in the cafeteria, immediately followed by the awards ceremony in the auditorium.
How will YOU participate in the PTA?
Be a Co-Chair Next School Year!
Certain committees – Directory, Fall Social, Talent Show, and Garden – are most in need of co-chair volunteers. In addition, all committees are open to additional volunteers, fresh perspectives, and new energy. Please see the online VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM for information about all the committees and to indicate your interest.
Do you have questions about the time commitment involved? We have answers.
The number of hours involved, as well as the timing (day, evening or weekend; year-round or seasonal) varies from committee to committee, and volunteers find the sweet spot that works for them. Time estimates and a short description for all the committees are provided on the VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM. Use the form to let you know what sounds interesting, and we will contact you to provide more information and see if you want to opt in.
Thank you for giving your time and talents!
Do you have colorful decorations you're willing to loan us? Some time to spare on May 2? A desire to feed the staff and teachers? Willingness to click on a signup genius form to review slots? Then read on...
The Staff Appreciation Luncheon is this Wednesday, May 2nd.
This annual luncheon (Cinco de Mayo theme this year!) is different and more festive than the food spreads we periodically set up in the teachers' lounge during parent-teacher-conference weeks. For this May event, we convert the library and conference room into cheerful dining spaces. We choose a theme, decorate the rooms and tables, set up the food, and give out party favors. The staff gets to sit down as a big group and have lunch together, and they really enjoy it. We pull it together with many volunteers taking on small tasks, and together they make for a lovely event.
There are many ways to help before, during, and after the event on May 2. Please take a look at the sign up sheet and see what works for you. Thank you for your contribution!
