But first, a few announcements...

We wrapped up our Annual Appeal Drive last Friday. Thank you to everyone who supported the drive! Your generosity and continued commitment help maintain the vibrant and engaged community that make Burbank such a special place. Stayed tuned for a full reporting of the drive next week.

The Book Fair last Friday was a tremendous success! Many thanks to the Book Fair Co-Chairs – Jessie Bennet, Peter Dizikes, Kylia Garver, and Kelly Chiu – for organizing the wonderful event, and to the numerous volunteers and staff who helped the event run smoothly. Of course, we also need to thank YOU, the Burbank Community, for shopping at the Book Fair, the proceeds from which fund the library this school year! And, thank you for all the Wish List books that were purchased for the library, classroom teachers, school specialists and support staff, and BASEC!

PTA Committee Leadership Needed

If you can commit to take on a leadership role this year, the following committees are in urgent need of motivated people.

Landscape Committee

One co-chair needed to keep the Burbank grounds beautiful in fall and spring. The landscape committee co-chairs coordinate beautification and clean-up projects to keep our school accessible, safe, and pleasant for the entire Burbank community. This role will be particularly important when the modulars arrive and the landscape changes.

Burbank Walks

We are still looking for one co-chair to help promote walking/biking to school. The co-chairs will organize Walk to School Days (February & May); organize “walking school buses”; and promote pedestrian and bike safety. The fall walking programs are already underway, so new volunteers will work with current co-chairs to get walking/biking programs in place for spring.

Garden Classroom

We need at least one more co-chair to help maintain the beautiful Garden Classroom. This position involves managing the maintenance and development of the garden, as well as coordinating volunteer efforts in the garden, and collaborating with the Landscape, Veggie Garden, and Garden Curriculum co-chairs.

Green Team

One co-chair needed to re-establish the Burbank Green Team. This volunteer will work with the Green Team volunteers from the other Belmont schools and the community to promote environmentally-friendly initiatives.

If any of these roles interests you, please email Katherine or Seetha. The PTA is a completely volunteer run organization, and the positive impact felt by students, teachers, and our community is immeasurable. Thank you for giving of your time and talents!

STAR Awards – Thank a Teacher this Holiday Season

Looking for a way to thank a teacher or community member this holiday season?
How about a STAR or Friend Award?

With your $25 Award donation to the Foundation for Belmont Education, the FBE will send a STAR Award to your honored Belmont Public School teacher, staff member (i.e. teacher aides, school secretaries, custodians, crossing guards, etc.), or a Friend Award to a community member, with your name and personal message. This is a great opportunity to tell the people who enrich the lives of your children and your community just how much they are appreciated.

To ensure delivery before schools close for the winter break, please place your Award order by Tuesday, December 12th at:
