PTA Committee Leadership Needed

If you can commit to take on a leadership role this year, the following committees are in urgent need of motivated people.

Landscape Committee

One co-chair needed to keep the Burbank grounds beautiful in fall and spring. The landscape committee co-chairs coordinate beautification and clean-up projects to keep our school accessible, safe, and pleasant for the entire Burbank community. This role will be particularly important when the modulars arrive and the landscape changes.

Burbank Walks

We are still looking for one co-chair to help promote walking/biking to school. The co-chairs will organize Walk to School Days (February & May); organize “walking school buses”; and promote pedestrian and bike safety. The fall walking programs are already underway, so new volunteers will work with current co-chairs to get walking/biking programs in place for spring.

Garden Classroom

We need at least one more co-chair to help maintain the beautiful Garden Classroom. This position involves managing the maintenance and development of the garden, as well as coordinating volunteer efforts in the garden, and collaborating with the Landscape, Veggie Garden, and Garden Curriculum co-chairs.

Green Team

One co-chair needed to re-establish the Burbank Green Team. This volunteer will work with the Green Team volunteers from the other Belmont schools and the community to promote environmentally-friendly initiatives.

If any of these roles interests you, please email Katherine or Seetha. The PTA is a completely volunteer run organization, and the positive impact felt by students, teachers, and our community is immeasurable. Thank you for giving of your time and talents!

Belmont High School Building Project Community Input Survey ending soon

The Belmont High School Building Project Community Input Survey is online and we want to hear from you! Share your opinions on the Belmont High School Building Project by filling out the BHSBC Survey at

We have received surveys from more than 1,200 community members, but we still want to hear from you! Please take five minutes to complete the SURVEY before November 30th.

You can also sign up for email updates and learn more about the project, including timelines, videos, meeting schedules, presentations, and more, at Thank you for your input on this important project! Questions?

Building Committee Members Needed

On November 13, 2017, a Special Town Meeting approved appropriations for schematic design and the creation of at least two Building Committees: one for short-term projects involving the Department of Public Works (DPW) and Police Station and another one for the Library. Building Committees are appointed by the Moderator and report to Town Meeting; they are authorized to spend the appropriated funds on the specific project. Moderator Mike Widmer will collect letters of interest and qualifications from those willing to contribute to the skill set of the Building Committee.

Some of the desirable qualifications for members of a Building Committee include — finance, accounting, lawyer, neighbor, architect, engineer, project management or other relevant experience, such as expertise with the specific uses of the building project. Finance and accounting are particular areas of experience needed for these committees.

You can send a letter of interest and qualifications to Moderator Mike Widmer or to the Town Clerk.

The Moderator is looking to collect all letters of interest and qualifications on or before December 1, 2017.
