A big thank you to everyone who attended the Welcome Coffee last week, and especially to Cathy Meyer for the wonderful breakfast spread!

Please keep practice safe driving and parking practices around the school. If you haven't had a chance to look at it yet, read the Getting to School Safely pamplet and share with any other caregivers. Thank you to everyone who has been following the new guidelines, and to the parking guide volunteers who have been helping provide information on Sharpe Rd.

The Burbank PTA is now on Facebook!

We invite all current Burbank parents, caregivers, teachers and staff to join us! Our group is called, you guessed it, Burbank PTA Community and we can be found by searching for the group name on Facebook or clicking below. Hope to see many of you there!

Trainings and Class Sign-Up

Sign up for your child's class using the link below (click the tabs along the top to switch grades); please sign up for approximately 3-5 volunteer shifts throughout the year.

Training Sessions for new volunteers, or anyone wanting to a refresher, will be held right after drop off in the library on Thursday, Sept 21 and Monday, Sept 25. Please contact Hannah Fischer Whitmer if you would like to volunteer but can not attend either training.

Experienced volunteers, please help us cover the next two weeks! If you're available Monday, Wednesday or Thursday morning please sign up for any open time slot, especially open Kindergarten slots, whether or not it's your child's classroom in the library. Thank you!

To encourage walking to school, the Burbank Walks PTA committee is excited to offer a “Walk-it Ticket” to every student interested in participating. Walking to school has many benefits: children get fresh air, meet friends, and arrive at school ready to learn, and walking strengthens our community and is good for the environment too!

To ensure your child receives their “Walk-it” Ticket, please fill out this registration form by Wednesday, September 27th. Walk-It Tickets will be distributed in early October. Your child can clip their Walk-it Ticket to their backpack and record on it each walking trip they make to or from school through December 6th. They then turn in their Walk-it Ticket to see their name and total number of walks displayed on the Burbank Walks Hall of Fame.

Explore Burbank's Gardens!

Did you know Burbank has two beautiful school gardens? Children and families are welcome to explore them, any time and in all seasons! Please be mindful as you enjoy looking around. You can also visit to stay up to date on garden news.

Thank you to all of the Burbank families that have helped care for our gardens over the summer, everything is growing well and looking beautiful! We appreciate all of the hard work put in by so many members of our community.

As we move into Fall, we could use some more help in caring for both gardens. In order to ensure that they continue to look great through the next couple months, we are looking for families to sign up to water and weed over the weekends. Fall is a perfect time to spend an hour in the garden! Sign up at

Still in Need of Key PTA Co-Chairs

If you can commit to take on a leadership role next year, the following committees are in urgent need of motivated people to step up.

Garden Classroom

We need at least one more co-chair to help maintain the beautiful Garden Classroom. This position involves managing the maintenance and development of the garden, as well as coordinating volunteer efforts in the garden, and collaborating with the Landscape, Veggie Garden, and Garden Curriculum co-chairs.

Garden Curriculum Integration

We need one co-chair for Kindergarten to help coordinate grade-level outings to Burbank's gardens. The co-chairs will coordinate with a grade-level teacher liaison and other garden committees to identify and facilitate activities in the gardens related to curriculum.

Clasroom Enrichment

We need one co-chair for Kindergarten to help coordinate grade-level enrichment activities. The co-chairs will work with grade-level teachers to identify appropriate activities, and then schedule and coordinate the selected 3-4 programs throughout the year.

If any of these roles interests you, please email Katherine or Seetha. The PTA is a completely volunteer run organization, and the positive impact felt by students, teachers, and our community is immeasurable. Thank you for giving of your time and talents!
