Be included in the Burbank Directory

The PTA School Directory committee generates a valuable resource for families each year - the Burbank Directory - using information provided by the school district.

You should have received an email last week from the district with the subject line: “BURBANK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Please verify information for Student Name.” Click through the link in this email. Whether or not you wish to be included in the directory, it is important to verify your contact information with the school district, so don't ignore this email.

There are two opt-in categories, both of which are different from the Publicity Opt-Out (which appears on the last page of the form):

  1. At the bottom of each Parent/Guardian box: select “Yes” for the district to release your email to the PTA. The text will read:
    • PTO/PTA Directory: Include my email address in the PTO/PTA directory?
  2. In the last box on the Parent/Guardian page, under the heading “Directory Information Option,” select “Yes” for the district to release your information to the PTA. The text will read:
    • PTO/PTA Directory: Include my student's name, classroom, home phone and street address.

The information we receive is as follows: student name, homeroom, grade, parent(s) name(s), home address, home phone number, and parent e-mail address(es) (if opted-in). The school district may send parent names as "Parent 1 & Parent 2."

If you would like to request that parent names display a certain way in the directory, or include a second phone number, email address, or a parent/guardian with a different address, please e-mail Sonia Gulbankian at and include the following information: student name, homeroom, grade, parent(s) name, any changes or additional information you would like included. You have until September 30th to request changes or additions.

Explore Burbank's Gardens!

Did you know Burbank has two beautiful school gardens? Children and families are welcome to explore them, any time and in all seasons! Please be mindful as you enjoy looking around. You can also visit to stay up to date on garden news.

Thank you to all of the Burbank families that have helped care for our gardens over the summer, everything is growing well and looking beautiful! We appreciate all of the hard work put in by so many members of our community.

As we move into Fall, we could use some more help in caring for both gardens. In order to ensure that they continue to look great through the next couple months, we are looking for families to sign up to water and weed over the weekends. Fall is a perfect time to spend an hour in the garden! Sign up at

Still in Need of Key PTA Co-Chairs

If you can commit to take on a leadership role next year, the following committees are in urgent need of motivated people to step up.

Garden Classroom

We need at least one more co-chair to help maintain the beautiful Garden Classroom. This position involves managing the maintenance and development of the garden, as well as coordinating volunteer efforts in the garden, and collaborating with the Landscape, Veggie Garden, and Garden Curriculum co-chairs.

Garden Curriculum Integration

We need two co-chairs - one for K and one for 2nd grade - to help coordinate grade-level outings to Burbank's gardens. The co-chairs will coordinate with a grade-level teacher liaison and other garden committees to identify and facilitate activities in the gardens related to curriculum.

Clasroom Enrichment

We need two co-chairs - one for K and one for 2nd grade - to help coordinate grade-level enrichment activities. The co-chairs will work with grade-level teachers to identify appropriate activities, and then schedule and coordinate the selected 3-4 programs throughout the year.

If any of these roles interests you, please email Katherine or Seetha. The PTA is a completely volunteer run organization, and the positive impact felt by students, teachers, and our community is immeasurable. Thank you for giving of your time and talents!
