We Strive for Love of Learning, Respect and Well Being
Learn Think Create Serve
Dear Burbank Families,
This morning the school community gathered for a celebration of Veteran's day. Almost a dozen of Belmont's Veteran's joined us for a musical celebration honoring their service and the freedom and prosperity it has given us. Our third graders led the school in rousing renditions of This Land is Your Land, You're a Grand Old Flag and others. The Veteran's expressed their heartfelt gratitude for both the warm welcome and the performance. I would like to make sure our spectacular music teacher, Mrs. Kate Hayashi, is recognized for her efforts to create this meaningful community event.
The cold has arrived. Even as the temperatures drop, we will continue to head outside for recess. However, we expect all students to be prepared for the weather. Students should bring warm coats, hats, and even gloves to be sure they are healthy and safe at recess. Children who are not adequately dressed will not be allowed to go out to recess. As you dust off your winter gear, I highly recommend that you take the time to label your children's equipment. Weather in New England is a fickle thing and we may experience frigid mornings and warm afternoons. When gloves, hats, or coats are removed they are often forgotten. If they are found and delivered to the lost and found, you have a much better chance of getting them home if the item has a last name on it.
The winter gear needed to stay warm and to play in the snow at recess can be expensive. If you could use assistance with providing a coat, boots, or snowpants for your child, please contact Kristin Romig, the Burbank School Counselor, by Friday, November 22nd.
Please enjoy the long weekend Burbank,

It’s time to look for head lice
There have been reported cases of head lice. This is VERY NORMAL, especially after a vacation or long weekends, when families congregate more closely and relatives from far away come to visit. This is a reminder to all of us that head lice are always in the community, and routine inspection of children’s heads by parents is ESSENTIAL to combat the spread. Instructions for inspecting and treating head lice are available in my office, or on the Belmont schools website, under Health Services.

Lost & Found Has A New Look
Please make sure to check the lost and found as soon as you notice your child is missing something. Our lost and found items can now be found in a new location in the hallway across from the art room on a clothing rack. Please check out lost and found as soon as you realize that you have lost an item of clothing, lunch bag, water bottle, etc.
