Learn Think Create Serve
Dear Burbank Families,
It was an interesting week here at the Burbank last week.
A problem with the town’s fiber optic network led to an outage of our phone and internet capabilities for the better part of the last few days. This may have led to missed phone calls and emails, and made it impossible to respond in many cases, so I thank you for your patience if you were waiting for an email from a teacher. Our town and school department technicians worked tremendously hard to diagnose and remedy the problem and we are grateful that everything is now back in operation. The outage is also why this newsletter is getting to you on Tuesday rather than last Friday. A slightly different Friday version was sent by me, but it apparently got lost in the ether. If it actually did make it out, I saw no evidence of it, thus today’s newsletter.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Curriculum Night Last Night. I hope you agree that our teachers are an amazing group of people that put on a very impressive presentation. Their dedication to the finest education they can offer continues to astound me. Be sure to sign up for parent/teacher conferences in October to have more in depth and focused conversations about your child(ren) and their progress.
I would like to extend a sincere and genuine invitation for everyone to please visit our Lost & Found, located in the lobby of the parking lot entrance opposite the gym. Though it is only October, our Lost & Found is already overflowing. I have been informed that our past practice has been to donate unclaimed Lost & Found items at the end of each month. We will be delaying our first donation to give all families a chance to reclaim any lost clothes, water bottles or lunchboxes.
If you’re inclined to be proactive, be aware that labeling your child’s belongings is a great way to make sure they don’t get sent to the Lost & Found at all. Whether you use premade sticker labels or write on a clothing label with a Permanent Marker, an item with a name on it will almost certainly be returned to you in short order.
It looks as if the weekend promises to give us one last taste of summer! I hope everyone in the Burbank Community enjoys the sun and warmth with friends, family, or fun!

Early Release Day Flip – Flop Schedule
Nearly all early release days are on Wednesdays. In order for children not to miss the same specialist or program on these early release Wednesdays, another day of the week’s schedule sometimes replaces Wednesday’s schedule. For example, if Wednesday is a Thursday schedule, then Thursday will be Wednesday’s schedule for Physical Education, Art, Music, Library and Computer lab. Instrumental Music always follows the early release day schedule changes.
Check Dates to Remember for these changes.
