Belmont spends $13,400 per student vs. the state with $15,500 and peer groups (level 1 districts and nearby towns) at $18,000, more than a third more. All the while enrollment is climbing by nearly 500 students by the 2024-25 school year.

According to the Boston Magazine's recent listing of 125 school districts, Belmont ranks #23 overall, and #106 in terms of per pupil spending.
In this financial climate, it should come as no surprise that the high school needs help with some BASIC NEEDS:
Textbooks and Course Materials We have funded:
- Jazz and Orchestra (equipment)
- Human Anatomy
- Language Based Learning Disabilities
- Social Studies
- Engineering and Design Tech
- Special Education
- Environmental Science
- POMS Piano Campaign
Drinking fountains Aside from the lead issue, the drinking fountains are at the end of their useful life. We are trying to increase their functionality by adding bottle fillers, which save on water and disposable bottles (both recycling and cleanup).
However we also WANT to fund student projects and scholarships! Help us sponsor worthwhile student projects through our new grant awarding process. An important purpose of the new PTSO is to encourage students with initiative to help the high school community.
