Veterans Day Exercises at BPS Honor the Military
Veterans Day Exercises at BPS Honor the Military
Veterans were honored with patriotic songs and poems by Belmont Public Schools students and staff beginning with the Chenery Middle School followed by a visit to Butler and Burbank Elementary Schools on November 9. Bob Upton, Officer of the Day and Belmont Veterans’ Services Officer for Belmont, introduced each veteran and named their branch of service. Hearing the thunderous applause at each school as the veterans entered the school rooms, Upton noted, “You make these guys feel like rock stars, and for that we thank you.” Upton also reminded us this Veterans Day on November 11 has special meaning as the date marks 100 years since the ending of World War I.

Superintendent's November 2, 2018 Newsletter
Fall is in full swing with Halloween festivities behind us and the end of daylight saving time creeping upon us. Please remember to "fall back" and set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 4. Please also see the latest news and calendar below, with many activities listed for you and your family to enjoy.

School Committee Meeting in Boston:  The School Committee held its October 23 meeting at the Shelburne Community Center in Roxbury. The School Committee does this annually to support communication with our Belmont-METCO families. Also at this meeting, Belmont Against Racism (BAR) donated $16,000 to support safe transportation for Boston students who are participating in after school activities. We thank BAR for their continued generosity and support for our students.

Belmont High School Building Committee (BHSBC): The October 12 Superintendent's Newsletter shared some questions from community members and shared the answers to those questions. The Belmont Citizen Herald recently asked the BHSBC to share information on the new features the BHS grade 7-12 building will have that the current building does not have.
