Congratulations to the Belmont School District for being a Recycling Award Finalist Your Vote is Needed by March 13!

We are one of three finalists for the MassRecycle School Award. MassRecycle gives out certificate awards annually which recognize outstanding achievements in and contributions towards recycling and waste reduction in Massachusetts. MassRecycle wants your vote to help decide the winner!

BHS Orchestra and Chorus Concert

The Department of Fine & Performing Arts will present its Spring Chorus and Orchestra Concert on March 4th at 7:00 PM in the BHS auditorium. This concert will feature the first of our Annual Solo Competition Winners: Haig Hovsepian, sophomore, will be performing the 3rd movement from the Aram Khachaturian Violin Concerto.

The guest for the show premiere is Jamie Shea, the President of the Foundation for Belmont Education.

Belmont High School Students Wear Pajamas for Donations

3/2/2015
Belmont High School (BHS) students had one less thing to do while heading to school one morning—get out of their pajamas. Staff and teachers joined the students in their PJs on February 13 in exchange for a donation of new pajamas in sizes newborn to 18 or a monetary donation for Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit organization located in Brighton and Philadelphia.

One Hundred Days of School and Counting

3/2/2015
Belmont reached 100 days of school on February 23, and schools recognized the day with various activities. Winn Brook set a goal of collecting 100 food or toiletry items per class by this date, benefiting the Belmont Food Pantry. Parent volunteers helped transport the donations to the Pantry. The students counted their donations and made graphs illustrating the number of items in various categories.

Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards Results

2/10/2015
The Results for the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards are in. The Scholastic Art Awards are the nation's longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in the visual and literary arts. Work is judged on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision. The judges had a very difficult time with having to choose winners from over 17,000 entries.
