About Us

The Belmont Public Schools Business Office provides support to the district for all financial operations.  The Office is responsible for payroll processing, accounts payable processing, regular day bus transportation, and administering payments for Full Day Kindergarten. The Business Office, in conjunction with the Superintendent’s Office, school Principals and Directors, also develops the annual operating budget.  In addition, the office provides the Superintendent and the School Committee with financial projections during the fiscal year.

The Belmont Public Schools provides school transportation in accordance with a combination of the following Massachusetts State law and Belmont School Committee policy:

Grades K-6

In accordance with State law, transportation is provided at no charge for students who live more than 2 miles from school for these grades. Google Maps will be used to determine mileage. 

Students residing under 2 miles in grades K-6 may purchase a bus pass subject to the availability of space and distance from school.

Grades 7-12

Students may purchase a bus pass subject to availability of busing in proximity to their address as well as available seating.

There is a limited availability of space on our school buses, particularly at the Chenery Middle School.

Kindergarten Information

The full day kindergarten tuition for the 2017-2018 school year is $3,500. Parents who have completed the registration process may use their child’s Unique ID to make online tuition payments through MCC via credit card or online bank check as of June 15th. You may pay your child’s tuition in full or make quarterly payments according to the following schedule:

  • July 1st
  • October 1st 
  • January 1st
  • April 1st

Your first quarter payment must be received by July 1st in order for your child to begin the full day kindergarten program on the first day of school.

If you have twin children attending full day kindergarten, the cost per child is $3,500. Financial waivers are available and granted based on household size and income. To request a waiver, fill out the Fee Waiver Form found here. Forward the completed form and a copy of last year’s federal tax return (Form 1040) to:

You may also fax your paperwork to 617-993-5439. For security reasons, please do not email your tax information to the Business Office. Waivers will be reviewed confidentially.

* The Belmont Public Schools is not in the position to provide legal or tax advice. However, please be advised that we have been notified by School Counsel that full day kindergarten tuition is not eligible for child care/dependent care expenses and it is not eligible for any beneficial tax treatment.
